Love at First Flight
This love story began in March 2020 during a nine-hour flight from Frankfurt to Detroit. Seated next to each other, John and Tia struck up a conversation that lasted the entire journey. They talked about everything from travels to our personal dreams, and by the end of the flight, it was clear that there was a special connection. As they were about to go their separate ways, John asked to exchange phone numbers, and from that moment on, they were inseparable.
Long Distance Dating
The relationship started with casual texting, which quickly developed into regular phone calls as they grew more interested in each other. These phone calls evolved into FaceTime dates, allowing them to see each other’s faces and share moments despite the distance. The connection deepened, prompting them to take the step of booking international flights to visit each other. Each visit reinforced their bond, and it became clear that they wanted to be a part of each other’s daily lives, leading them to the decision to move in together.
Adventures in Pure Michigan
By January 2021, John and Tia were living in Detroit with their two beloved cats, Sylvester and Sir Jeffers. In July 2021, they bought a house in Saint Joseph, all the way in the southwest of Michigan. They continued to pursue their shared passions for nature, music, and travel, which have taken them around the world. Along the way, they have visited friends and family, creating diverse and memorable experiences.
Engaged in Paradise
In October 2023, John chose the enchanting Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden in Hawaii for his proposal to Tia. Completely unaware of the surprise, Tia was overjoyed to discover her family hidden among the garden's lush beauty as John got down on one knee. The unexpected presence of her loved ones and the stunning surroundings made the proposal a deeply romantic and unforgettable moment.
